According to the Swedish Board of Agriculture there are 63,000 farms in Sweden. About fifty years ago there were twice as many. In Västerbotten most of the farmers are along the coast and almost all farmland in the inland has disappeared.

But in Tvärålund, Vindeln municipality there is Ko-Olles agriculture and there you dare to invest.

- We have 300 dairy cows today and another 100 young animals. We are now seeking permission for another 100 dairy cows and a sixth milk robot, says Olle Nilsson, who has four employees at his farm.

May be the largest dairy farmer in the county

If they get through their environmental impact description and other permits, this means that they will become the largest dairy farmers in Västerbotten.

- Yes, that's right, there is a similar farm in Kågedalen north of Skellefteå that is just as big right now, but if Ko-Olles expands, they will be the largest, says Lars Westman, member responsible for Norrmejerier.

And the farmer Olle Nilsson is optimistic.

- We have good chips and plenty of feed for the animals and even though the milk price goes up and down, you have to dare to invest, says Olle Nilsson.
