The freedom to choose where you want to die when no cure exists anymore, it varies depending on where you live. In Gävleborg County there is no hospice for those who want to die in such a place. The issue has been up many times over the last ten years.

With the support of a new report

And now it really is time, according to the Moderates, after the region's auditors produced a consultative report.

The Liberals are on the same line and want a hospice in a separate building adjacent to Gävle Hospital and that it should be part of the large Future Building that Gävle Hospital is facing.

- We think that a hospice should be located in the Gävle hospital area. And then it is an excellent opportunity to include it in the large Future Building that is currently being planned. You are close to natural areas such as the Boulogner Forest and Vall's garden while being close to the health care itself, says Helena Englund (L), regional member.

"The question is investigated and clear"

Tommy Berger (S), regional council and chairman of the health committee, believes that the issue is well-researched and clear. And starting one in Gävle only benefits Gävle.

- There are a lot of municipalities that are not interested. We strive to provide good care at the end of life throughout the county in different ways. Against that is a building in Gävle, then I do not think that the choice is particularly difficult, says Berger.
