Yemeni government forces advanced and took control of a camp of the UAE-backed security belt in the Qarn al-Klassi area between the cities of Shaqra and Zanzibar without resistance, local sources told Al Jazeera.

The sources pointed out that the army forces are seeking to advance towards the city of Zanzibar, the administrative center of the province of Abyan, which reinforced the security belt forces backed by the United Arab Emirates presence after bringing in military reinforcements from the city of Aden.

The sources added that government forces - belonging to President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi - took control of the coastal city of Shaqra in the province of Abyan in southern Yemen, where the command of the Fifth Infantry Brigade, based in the Directorate of Mudia in Abyan, loyal to the legitimate government of Yemen.

The government forces have taken full control of the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa province and all 17 of its directorates,

This came days after battles against the armed Shabwani elite and the UAE-backed Transitional Council.

The government forces announced last Saturday to tighten their full control over Ataq and all the roads leading to it, and control of three camps where the elite Shabwani forces were stationed in the vicinity of the city.

Yemeni government soldiers take control of oil and gas export company and port in Balhaf, Shabwa province

Al-Jazeera obtained pictures of government soldiers after taking control of the Balhaf oil company and the Balhaf oil and gas export port, which were under the control of the Shabwani elite forces, and the soldiers chanted against the presence of UAE forces in Yemen and demanded their departure.

In conjunction with these developments, Yemeni Prime Minister Moin Abdul Malik directed the inclusion of all the units that have declared their admission to legitimacy within the Yemeni national army.

The Yemeni prime minister called on Yemenis to align with the country and constitutional legitimacy, and stressed that Yemen is room for all, and that the state will not tolerate what he called narrow and chaotic projects.
