Hariri told the ambassadors of the five countries that Lebanon would complain to the UN Security Council, calling on their countries to maintain security and stability in Lebanon and the region, and pointed out that any escalation could develop into a cycle of regional violence, as he put it.

Two drones crashed early on Sunday in the southern suburbs of Beirut, which is dominated by Hizbollah, prompting the group to warn Israeli soldiers on the border of a response. The Israeli army said its northern command was on high alert along the border with Syria and Lebanon.

Hussein Amir Abdallahian, a senior aide to Iran's parliament speaker, said the Tel Aviv attacks on Beirut were a major mistake in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's calculations.
