Amandine Buchard (-52kg), the last Frenchwoman of the day, will fight for a bronze medal after losing her semi-finals at the World Judo Championships in Tokyo on Monday.

Buchard (24), world No. 1 in the category, gave up after nearly 1 min 30 seconds of fighting in the golden score (the extra time after the four minutes of fighting) against the experienced Russian Natalia Kuziutina (30 years old), by waza-ari.

Already double world bronze medalist (-48 kg in 2014 and -52 kg in 2018), she will now challenge to get a third Japanese Ai Shishime, world champion 2017 and vice-world champion 2018.

If it wins, Buchard will bring to France his first medal of the week Tokyo to the second day of competition.
