In "L'Equipée sauvage" with Matthieu Noël, René-Marc Chikli, president of SETO (syndicate of companies of the tour-operating), returns on a tendency which asserts itself: to take his holidays in the month of September.

INTERVIEW

The end of August is approaching and with, the end of the summer holidays for many people. A lot ? Maybe less and less. Indeed, nearly 10% of French people chose to leave in September 2018 and they should be even more likely to make this choice in 2019. On Europe 1, in L'Equipée sauvage with Matthieu Noël, René-Marc Chikli, President of SETO (syndicate of companies of tour-operating) returns on this habit.

"Prices are interesting in France on some destinations"

The main motivation of the holidaymaker of September remains budgetary. Whether in campsites, hotels or tour operators, fares are often lowered. "The prices are interesting in France on certain destinations", says René-Marc Chikli, "sometimes with -50% on the first weeks of September". It is especially the medium-haul that benefits from this new trend. "Turkey has really sold well, Tunisia, Greece, Spain and Italy also," said the president of SETO.

About the months of July and August, René-Marc Chikli draws an initial assessment. "Paradoxically, on France, from the end of July, the finding was obvious: the French preferred the north," he says. The fault of a heat wave that pushed the people of Paris to choose more freshness.
