The Spanish military ship Audaz, has left for Pozzalo (Sicily), where it will pick up the migrants rescued by the ship of the NGO Open Arms that corresponds to host Spain, as reported to Europa Press government sources.

The Spanish Navy ship anchored last Friday , August 23 in the morning off the coast of Lampedusa, with the aim of picking up the 15 migrants from the Open Arms that will host Spain according to the distribution established between several countries of the European Union : Luxembourg, France, Germany, Spain and Portugal .

The Audacious had set sail on Tuesday, August 20, in Rota, after the Spanish government decided to send him to pick up the Open Arms migrants, who were still blocked 800 miles from the island of Lampedusa, after 19 days drifting with more than a hundred migrants on board.

A few hours after leaving the Audacious, the Prosecutor's Office of Agrigento ordered the provisional kidnapping of the Open Arms and the landing of the dozens of migrants and refugees who were still on board at that time (a total of 83), after the prosecutor Luigi Patronaggio examine the conditions of the Spanish NGO ship.

That same Tuesday at midnight the Open Arms migrants were landed , while the Audacious had already completed part of the tour. For this reason, the Government decided that the Spanish Navy ship should continue on its way to Lampedusa to also pick up those migrants who were entitled to accept the distribution agreed with other countries of the European Union.

Once there, the ship could not dock at the port due to its size, the Italian government reported, so it is currently heading to Pozzalo.
