Justice Minister Nicole Belloubet said on Monday that "mother and mother" would be mentioned on the birth certificates of the children of a lesbian couple who used medically assisted procreation (ART), a provision in the next law Bioethics.

"On the birth certificate will appear + mother and mother + when we have children who are from a PMA for a couple of women," said Nicole Belloubet on BFMTV.

"The reality is this: this child has two mothers, and he will have two mothers in civil status," added the minister.

"No doubt we will put the mother who gives birth first and then the other mother," added Ms. Belloubet, who brings this text with the ministers of health Agnès Buzyn and Research Frédérique Vidal.

The bioethics law, which provides for the extension of medically assisted procreation (PMA) to couples of women and single women, will be examined in the National Assembly in September.

The reform of filiation is at the heart of the debates that preceded the presentation of the draft law in the Council of Ministers.

The option chosen by the government was the establishment of a specific parentage system for children born of an LDC to a lesbian couple.

Before a PMA with sperm donation, couples of women will have to sign an "advance declaration" in front of a notary, to be sent to the registrar after birth. The two women, the one who wore the baby and his partner, will be recognized as parents.

For LGBTI associations, this device creates "discrimination" against lesbian couples compared to heterosexual couples who have used PMA. They would prefer a single device for all couples who use a GAD with a gift, whether homosexuals or heterosexuals.
