Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday called for the construction of hundreds of new homes in a colony mourned by a deadly bomb attack Friday in the occupied West Bank.

The explosion of a bomb in a pool water tank near the Jewish settlement of Dolev, northwest of Ramallah, killed 17-year-old Rina Shnerb, an Israeli girl, and injured her father and his brother.

Israeli authorities have claimed to have arrested Palestinian suspects without providing more details about the ongoing investigation into this rare, homemade bomb attack in recent years in the West Bank.

On Monday, the Prime Minister's Office reported that Benjamin Netanyahu had asked that the project "for the establishment of a new neighborhood in Dolev with about 300 new residential units" be submitted to the Settlement Planning Committee at the " next meeting".

While Israel's colonization of the occupied West Bank and annexed East Jerusalem has continued under all Israeli governments since 1967, it has accelerated in recent years under the leadership of Mr. Netanyahu and his ally in Washington, DC Donald Trump.

Today more than 600,000 Israelis lead in the settlements an often conflictual coexistence with three million Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the Palestinian part of the city occupied by Israel.

Benjamin Netanhayu is courting voters favorable to the rise of the colonies in the optics of the elections of September 17, which are announced bitterly disputed, according to recent polls diffused in the Israeli press.
