The license hunt for bear began on August 21 and may last as long as October 15. This year too, the award is 100 bears in Jämtland and Härjedalen.

Emma Andersson, game manager on the County Administrative Board of Jämtland County, told SVT before the hunt started that the large allocation is because the number of bears is above the administrative target, which is 650 bears in the county.

"The latest estimate from the Scandinavian bear project is 850 bears," she said.

Last year, too, the license hunt for bear began on August 21, and even then the award was 100 bears.

On September 18, the quota was filled and the hunt was canceled.
