Amandine Buchard (-52 kg), world No. 1 in the category and last French in the running of the day, failed at the foot of the podium after being beaten in her fight for a bronze medal at the World Judo Championships on Monday in Tokyo, one year from the 2020s.

Expensive during his first three games of the day, Buchard (24) then lost one after the other in the semi-finals, against Natalia Kuziutina of Russia (waza-ari in the golden score), then in his fight for a third place against Japanese Ai Shishime, world champion 2017 and vice-world champion 2018, by ippon.

Buchard's record remains at two world bronze medals (-48 kg in 2014 and -52 kg in 2018).

After two days of competition, France is still chasing a first podium.
