The owner Mustafa Türkkan would have left the premises no later than the first of November last year, after a decision by the rental committee last year. But he has not done so and still keeps his street kitchen open despite threats from the municipality about forced closure and eviction.

- I've been waiting for it, but they haven't dared. I am still open, Mustafa Türkkan tells SVT.

The street kitchen should be demolished

Behind the conflict lies a municipal decision to demolish the street kitchen, in favor of more parking spaces in front of the Coop store. The decision is justified by being included in the municipality's long-term plan to strengthen the center trade in Oskarshamn. But no demolition has been done.

According to an agreement signed between Oskarshamn Municipality and Mustafa Türkkan in 2014, he was offered a reduced rent during the time that the street kitchen was to be discontinued, and was also offered a replacement room near the current one. But he is not satisfied with the terms of the agreement and says he feels cheated.

"That venue is a cultural monument and would be both too expensive for me to rebuild and rent," says Mustafa.

"The municipality is good at lying"

What are your hopes for the negotiations today?

- We will see what happens, there are many details in this. But in my opinion, the municipality is good at lying and no one has really taken responsibility.
