Hundreds of people witnessed Monday's funeral, near Baghdad, of a fighter of a powerful Iraqi paramilitary force, killed the day before in a drone attack attributed by that force to Israel.
A member of Hashd al-Shaabi, Kazem Mohsen, also known as Abu Ali al-Dabi's war, was killed Sunday in western Iraq near the Syrian border.
"Hundreds of people attended (...) the funeral procession this morning (Monday) of Kazem Mohsen, the head of logistics of Hachd al-Shaabi's brigade 45, killed by an Israeli drone attack in Al-Qaim while on duty, "the Iraqi force reported in a statement.
According to Hashd al-Shaabi, another fighter was seriously injured in the attack.
It came a month after a series of explosions on bases of the paramilitary force, imputed in the United States by one of its leaders, who was later disowned by his leader.
Hashd al-Shaabi helped Iraqi government forces defeat the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group in 2017.
The alliance is made up of pro-Iranian armed groups opposed to the presence of US forces deployed in Iraq as part of the US-led international coalition, which also contributed to the fight against ISIS.
The Pentagon denied any involvement in the explosions that occurred in July at Hachd al-Shaabi bases.
