Emmanuel Macron said Monday that the G7 talks had created "the conditions for a meeting and therefore an agreement" between US Presidents Donald Trump and Iranian Hassan Rohani on the Iranian nuclear crisis.

The French president hoped that this meeting could be organized "in the coming weeks". "Nothing is done, things are eminently fragile," he warned during the final press conference of the summit in Biarritz.

President Trump then said he was ready to meet Iranian President Rohani if the "circumstances" were met. He considered realistic the holding of such a meeting in the coming weeks.

"At some point, there must be a meeting" between MM. Trump and Rohani and "I hope that in the coming weeks, such a meeting" takes place, said Emmanuel Macron.

He said "the real change" is that "President Rohani was open" Monday morning to such an eventuality.

For the French head of state, it is "see how we can build a new nuclear agreement with Iran", the Americans want it to cover "a longer period" and "more sites being watched. "

He did not want to give more details that could "weaken" the negotiations.
