• Meatloaf: an outbreak of listeria and doubts
  • The company that caused listeriosis says that "what happened is not explained"
  • Q&A. What is listeriosis and what are its symptoms?

The director of the Center for Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies (Ccaes), Fernando Simón , has confirmed that the possible first case of the outbreak of listeriosis abroad is being investigated for contaminated shredded meat of the brand 'La Mechá'.

This is an Englishman who consumed this product in the middle of the month in Seville and was diagnosed in France when he returned to his country from the Andalusian capital.

As Simon has advanced in statements to the SER Chain, this British citizen became ill after ingesting the contaminated meat and went to a Sevillian health center. Returning to the United Kingdom, he was admitted "one or two days" in France and was finally discharged .

After being notified of this case on Friday afternoon, Health is waiting to confirm if the listeria strain for which it was infected is the same as those that are "circulating" in the outbreak.

The director of the Ccaes, under the Ministry of Health, said that "obviously, cases in other countries will come out now, since once they receive the information they will have to differentiate it from the listeriosis they have at the national level ."
