Canadian actor Donald Sutherland will receive a prize for his entire career at the film festival in San Sebastián (northern Spain), announced Monday its organizers.

Aged 84, "Sutherland has talentedly portrayed dozens of characters in every genre: from drama to war cinema to thriller, horror or science fiction," they said. This prize will be awarded on September 26th.

The actor, who received an honorary Oscar for his career in 2017, has starred in more than 150 films, including Robert Altman's "MASH", "People Like Others" by Robert Redford, "1900" by Bernardo Bertolucci , Robert Aldrich's "The Twelve Dozen" or "Do not go back" to Nicolas Roeg.

The festival of San Sebastián (20-28 September) is also to award this year an honorary award to the Spanish actress Penélope Cruz and the Franco-Greek filmmaker Costa-Gavras.
