In Roskachestvo, they talked about how to help schoolchildren cope with bullying on the net. According to the agency, every year this problem becomes more urgent, as the number of children constantly spending time on the Internet is growing.

“According to statistics, more than 56% of teenage children are constantly online, and every year this figure is only growing. In terms of Internet involvement, Russia is confidently ahead of Europe and the USA, ”Roskachestvo reports.

Although children usually perceive the Internet as a safe space, this is not at all the case, the department notes. On the network, schoolchildren often become objects of cyberbullying.

It is clarified that cyberbullying is called "everything that constitutes a deliberate and repetitive harm inflicted on someone using Internet technologies, computers, gadgets and other electronic devices."

Roskachestvo notes that cyberbullying has already "become a routine of modern Russian schoolchildren."

“About 70% of adolescents reported that they were participants or victims of online bullying, and in 40% of cases, children who were victims themselves become aggressors on the network,” the organization said, citing HSE research.

The consequences of such persecution can be both negative emotions in children, such as anxiety, fear or shame, as well as suicidal thoughts or even suicide, noted in Roskachestvo.

Cyberbullying takes many forms. Roskachestvo notes that there are many varieties of Internet bullying.

So, experts distinguish hatting (unreasonable and baseless criticism of a person), cybestalking (harassment of a person and members of his family with the help of gadgets, accompanied by threats) and trolling (publishing aggressively-colored information on the Internet to ridicule the victim)

In addition, experts identify such types of bullying as griffing (harassment in online games) and sexting (sending out materials with naked people for the purpose of blackmail or revenge).

As noted in the Roskachestvo, it is necessary to explain to the child what information and photos should not be posted on the Internet, as well as help him set the maximum privacy settings in the accounts of social networks where he is registered. Also, the child must understand that it is necessary to immediately stop communicating with a person who is trying to blackmail him or threaten him.

In addition, the Roskachestvo advises trying to negotiate with the offenders, threatening to contact the police if the persecution continues. An effective way would be a complaint from the administration of the Internet platform on which the persecution takes place. In an extreme case, it is worth filing a complaint about abusive materials with a court or Roskomnadzor.

The organization also recommends changing passwords more often to avoid hacking your account and stealing personal data.

Systematic work to combat cyberbullying should be carried out at the school level, says Olga Letkova, head of the Association of Parental Committees and Communities.

“I believe that there should be discussions at school - at the classroom hours, about what bullying is at school, how bad it is, how the guys are suffering. The school should conduct educational work too. Bullying should be one of the main issues at school. Another important point - if the teacher sees that some child is being bullied, he must take measures, ”the expert noted in an interview with RT.

At the same time, parents should talk with children about bullying in real life, since this problem is even more important than cyberbullying, said Irina Volynets, head of the National Parents Committee.

“We need to talk not only about cyberbullying, but about bullying in general. Because if a child can exit the social network, turn off the computer or phone, get rid of cyberbullying, then getting rid of bullying in real life is not so simple. Especially if the child is being persecuted in school, in the yard, systematic work with the child is important here, ”said RT specialist.
