- The courses have two parts, one theoretical and one physical. It's about getting to know how to use one's body and one's brain if one is attacked, says Bodil Frick.

- It is a sign that many girls want to be able to defend themselves. One must not forget that about 80 percent of those who become assaulted freeze to ice, but knowing how to act in the event of an assault can also mean that you can get away from it, says Bodil Frick.

"Girls need to be able to defend themselves"

For Bodil Frick, it was a matter of course to arrange the courses - aimed at women and girls.

- I'm passionate about gender equality. It's inevitable that it will be needed. But necessary. Girls need to be able to defend themselves.

In the clip above you can hear Bodil Frick talk about his thoughts on teaching self-defense to women and girls - and also what some women in Uppsala think.

Bodil Frick is also politically active within the Liberals in Uppsala municipality.
