Differentiated traffic will be put in place Monday in the Lille metropolis due to an episode of pollution to ozone and maximum authorized speeds will be reduced, announced the northern prefecture Sunday.

The most polluting vehicles will be banned from driving in 12 municipalities in Lille, including Lille, Lambersart and Marcq-en-Baroeul, said the prefecture.

Only vehicles equipped with a vignette Crit'air 0, 1, 2 and 3 or with a derogation will be allowed to circulate Monday from 06H00 to midnight. However, vehicles used for carpooling purposes may circulate regardless of their sticker.

These measures may be renewed Tuesday "if the situation does not improve".

The northern prefecture also imposed maximum speeds lowered by 20km / h.

The differentiated traffic has been in place since Sunday in the Paris area because of an episode of pollution with ozone.
