Successful Landing for "The Fall of the President": This action movie has reached the top step of the North American box office podium for its first weekend in theaters, according to estimates released Sunday by the specialized company Exhibitor Relations.

With $ 21.25 million raised in three days, Ric Roman Waugh's feature film dethroned the bad guys from "Good Boys".

"Angel has Fallen", in VO, is the story of Mike Banning, played by Gerard Butler, a bodyguard of the American president, who finds himself accused of being the mastermind of an assassination attempt on his boss, played by Morgan Freeman. The hero must then escape the authorities launched in pursuit while finding the real culprits of this plot.

This is the third time Gerard Butler slips into Mike Banning's shoes, after "The Fall of the White House" (2013), and "The Fall of London" (2016).

"Good Boys" drops to second in the standings, with $ 11 million raised this weekend, ten days after its release.

Twenty years after "American Pie", which he warms codes, this film follows the adventures of a trio of boys a dozen years laboriously trying to awaken to sexuality.

In the third place is "Overcomer", directed by Alex Kendrick, who also stars. The film gets, for its first weekend of exploitation, 8.2 million dollars.

When a basketball coach from an American high school becomes a cross-country coach and his only athlete is a young girl who suffers from asthma, the challenge is colossal and the film full of good feelings.

If Disney's "Lion King" disappears from the podium-he has earned 8.15 million- the US giant can look forward to seeing his film exceed the half-billion dollars in revenue -510.6 million- in North America, in six weeks.

The latest installment of the "Fast & Furious" franchise, popular with racing and big muscle enthusiasts, is fifth. "Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw" has earned $ 8.14 million in three days and $ 147.7 million since its release four weeks ago.

Here is the rest of the Top 10:

6. "Wedding Nightmare": This horror film concludes its first North American weekend with $ 7.6 million in the bag.

7. "Angry Birds: Copains as pigs" (6.4 million, 27.1 million in two weeks)

8. "Scary Stories" (6 million, 50.5 in three weeks)

9. "Dora and the Lost City" (5.2 million, 43.1 in three weeks)

10. "Once Upon a Time in ... Hollywood" (5 million, 123.2 million in five weeks)
