Housing calls the new traffic collection system the beginning of a new form of class society. The risk is that rural youths do not have the energy to get to high school when it becomes too difficult to get to school.

Agnetha and Joel Lindegren have chosen to move from town to country.

- We do not expect that we will have the same service as in the central city, but somewhere we still expect that we will have an opportunity to survive and that we can continue to keep the countryside alive, emphasizes Agnetha, who is very upset about how the countryside is treated at all by the politicians.

The closures solve each other

Skellefteå municipality has closed down the school in Åbyn, last summer they closed down preschool and leisure activities (which has resurfaced in private) and for a long time it looked like the street lights would be extinguished in this and many other villages.

- I actually think that the countryside dies if they continue as they do right now, says Joel Lindegren.

"Want to change the trend"

The Social Democratic Municipal Council Lorents Burman points out that he himself has been involved in school closures and bus reductions in the path of demographic development, but that the municipality prioritizes a good basic service.

But do you as a municipal council really want to act to try to reverse the population trend or do you just accept the demographic development?

- I want to help change the trend and since 2013 we have worked with good results for more establishments that provide jobs, which means, for example, that house prices in the countryside rise and create favorable housing environments in the countryside.
