March 23, 2019The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have announced that they have conquered the last bastion of ISIS in eastern Syria, and have thus completely eliminated the self-proclaimed Abu Bakr al Baghdadi Caliphate. "The Sdf declare the total elimination of the so-called Caliphate and the 100% territorial defeat of ISIS," announced Mustefa Bali, spokesman for Kurdish-Arab forces backed by the international coalition.

"Baghuz was liberated. The military victory against Daesh was completed," said the spokesman of the Kurdish-Arab militias Sdf. For two months the village in eastern Syria, on the border with Iraq, was at the center of the last offensive against ISIS Islamic terrorists, during which the Florentine volunteer Lorenzo Orsetti, enlisted in the Kurdish militias, was also killed .

Thus the last bastion of the Caliphate, self-proclaimed by al-Baghdadi in 2014, came to fall and in the moment of maximum expansion extended over vast portions of Syria and Iraq.
