Around 100 participants in different classes, from the age of 7 to the elite, are in Uppsala on Saturday to participate in the cycling competition. Participants come from different countries in the Nordic and Baltic countries and meet at Uppsala BMX Arena at Gränby Sportfält.

- The Baltic has been at the forefront of BMX and has several Olympic and World Cup medals. That they come here is welcomed from Sweden, says Johan Waltari.

Ideal forces behind the competition

It is the SMK Uppsala association that organizes the competition and home-makers are expected in every class, according to Johan Waltari. Behind the preparations are several non-profit forces and they have worked their way into the final stage of the competition.

- Parents within the club have been involved and helped. We have had bad luck with the weather and intense rain - but now it looks good. We have a very nice facility.

Strengthens ties between countries

The competition will strengthen the links between the Nordic and Baltic countries within BMX.

- It is positive that the Swedish riders get international resistance. It is another type of resistance that we have no control over. There will also be more cross-border collaborations going forward, says Johan Waltari.
