Rohingya evacuees are not expected to return. From the collision with security forces, August 25, 2:23:23

25 years have passed since the collision between Rohingya armed forces of the Muslim minority of Myanmar and the government security forces. This clash triggered 700,000 Rohingya people to evacuate to neighboring Bangladesh, but the refugees are still worried that they will be persecuted again and there is no prospect of returning.

On August 25th, in Rakhine State, western Myanmar, the Rohingya armed forces attacked police and military facilities one after another, and government security forces began a large-scale sweeping operation.

As a result of this, Rohingya residents evacuated to Bangladesh, the neighboring country, and the number estimated by the United Nations exceeded 700,000.

In the refugee camp in southern Bangladesh, simple houses made of bamboo are lined up on the mountain slope.

The living environment remains harsh, with disasters such as the death of three people due to landslides caused by heavy rain last month, and infectious diseases such as diphtheria due to lack of toilets and water.

On the other hand, evacuees are reluctant to return to Myanmar because they are worried that they will not be granted the right to obtain nationality and may be persecuted again.

The Myanmar government insists that it is ready to accept, and since 22nd this month, it has been accepting returnees in cooperation with the Bangladesh government, but no refugees have responded.

Two years have passed since the problem occurred, and it is urgently needed to prepare the procedures and systems for the return of displaced persons.
