TICAD has been regularly held together with the United Nations by the Japanese government since 1993. Leaders from 54 African countries attend to discuss strengthening economic relations with Japan and development assistance.

Before the seventh meeting starts from 28th of this month, preparations are being made for the event at the international conference hall in Yokohama.

In this meeting, in addition to 550 staff dispatched from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, etc., 250 volunteers, mainly university students, will be involved in the management. Work was being done, such as adjustments and confirmation of related events.

Also, in the halls where the opening ceremony and ministerial-level meetings are held, black chairs where representatives from each country sit are brought in, and workers line up while checking the installation location.

The meeting will be held for three days, with representatives from the Japanese and African business circles discussing environmental development and human resource development for private investment and trade expansion, as well as climate change, food crises, refugees and migrants. Various issues faced by Africa, such as these issues, will also be discussed.
