European Council President Donald Tusk warned on Saturday that the European Union would retaliate if Donald Trump decreed new tariffs on French wine in retaliation for the taxation of US digital giants.

"I will protect the French wine with a sincere determination (...) If the United States imposes taxes, then the European Union will respond on the same level," he said during a press conference shortly before the opening of the G7 summit in Biarritz, in southwestern France.
