- There have been incredible amounts of vegetables. This is where we notice most. On the meat front, things aren't going so well, says Andreas Larsson, assistant director at Coop in Jokkmokk.

Recently, Jokkmokk's population has increased dramatically. The reason is the Rainbow Gathering event that has gathered people from all over the world. Most of them are said to have been around 1200 people in the forests of Kallak.

Manifest for the forest

Participants say that they manifest for the forest when the mining company Beowulf Mining wants to open a mine in the area. But the point of Rainbow Gathering is first and foremost to try to achieve peace and love on earth. The event is held annually at various locations around the world but this is the first gathering in Sweden.

When SVT Nyheter Norrbotten walks around talking to Jokkmokksbor, everyone is positive to Rainbow Gathering. In the clip above you can hear more about their views on the temporary residents.

Marked by the gathering

Inside a grocery store in Jokkmokk you have perhaps noticed the gathering most of all.

Have other customers been affected when the goods have run out?

- It has happened. Unfortunately, says Andreas Larsson and laughs.

Has it become sour mines?

- It certainly has become, but most have indulgence. Most people know that they are here and you explain that it is difficult to order the right amount of people usually understand.

Must move camp

During Thursday, participants at Rainbow Gathering had to move the tent camp. This was after the landowner reported the event when no permit was sought to stay in the area. However, those who were still on the scene refused to leave as they were soon leaving. Christian Rimppi, representative of the Jokkmokk community, says he has good contact with those who are present and that it is about an interpretation of the public right.

- We have to apply the handbrake when there are so many people on one surface. They have not applied for a permit and then Swedish law must come into force.

Here you can read what a day at the camp can look like:

All participants eat two meals together. A brunch and dinner. There are no leaders and hierarchies, so instead the question is thrown out if anyone wants to help and cook.

During the days you can also go to various workshops such as yoga, meditation or singing.

They also state that they are meticulous about hygiene and dig, among other things, toilet pits.
