“The court ruled: the petition of the investigation to satisfy, extend the accused Whelan a measure of restraint in the form of detention for two months, until October 29,” RIA Novosti quoted the decision of Judge Elena Kaneva.

Earlier it was reported that doctors were summoned to the Lefortovo court of Moscow after Whelan complained of well-being.

Arriving doctors refused Whelan hospitalization.

At the end of December 2018, the FSB reported that Whelan was detained during an espionage campaign in Moscow. He has citizenship of the USA, Great Britain, Ireland and Canada.

In May, his arrest was extended to 29 August.
