Yemeni military sources reported the killing of three Shabwani elite forces and the UAE-backed Transitional Council and wounding more than a dozen, including senior leaders, in renewed fierce clashes in the city of Ataq, Shabwa governorate between the elite and the Council forces on the one hand and government forces on the other hand.

The sources added that the local authority in the province imposed a curfew inside Ataq until eight in the morning on Saturday, and pointed to the city hospital came under fire after elements of the elite and the Transitional Council of the hospital taken a front line to defend.

The confrontations between the two sides led to the control of government forces on Ataq, while the Yemeni government accused the leadership of the UAE forces in the city of Balhaf in the province to blow up the situation despite what it described as Saudi efforts to stop the military escalation.

self-control
The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (NTC) on Friday called for a ceasefire in the town of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa province in southeast Yemen, after its forces failed to storm the city.

This came in a statement issued by Council Spokesman Nizar Haitham, calling on all parties in Shabwa to exercise restraint and abide by the call for a ceasefire.

The statement pointed out that the call comes in view of the magnitude of the loss of life, money and utilities, and to avoid the risk of miscalculation.

He also demanded loyalist forces to remain in their positions and maintain public and private institutions and property.

Politically, Yemeni Ambassador to Jordan Ali Al-Amrani said that the UAE's danger to his country exceeded the threat posed by Iran, expressing the hope that "the retreat of its agenda in Yemen quickly and urgently."

"The UAE's threat to Yemen has surpassed that of Iran," Amrani said in a tweet on his Twitter account. "Nobody expected this even in the worst nightmares."

"This recognizes all Yemenis, even those whom the UAE has linked to personal interests to buy their silence or loyalty. When we talk about brothers we are deeply sorry.

"Can the UAE revise its agenda in Yemen quickly and expeditiously, for its own benefit, for Yemen and for the Arab alliance," Al-Amrani wrote in a tweet.

It is noteworthy that the security forces seized control of the headquarters of the military police of the government in the city of Alkoud near the center of the province of Abyan (south), after fierce fighting.

Before mid-August, the council's forces took control of most of the state's joints in Aden, after four days of fierce battles against government forces in which more than 40 people were killed, including civilians, according to local and international human rights organizations.
