A queen engaged in a modern monarchy and away from the old nineteenth-century clichés. This is how the German television ZDF portrays Queen Letizia in a documentary that reviews her entire career as a journalist and as a consort queen, and that falls apart in flattery towards her relationship with King Philip.

"By profession: Queen" sneaks into Letizia's life, with everyday scenes that challenge her as an indefatigable representative of Spain, but also as an exemplary mother or a movie buff who passionately attends a film festival. Everything told from a closeness that until now no media had managed to capture.

In the recording, the German journalist Julia Melchior accompanied the queen in different acts both inside and outside Spain over a year. With this there are already four documentaries that the German chain has broadcast on the Spanish royal house, all directed by Melchior herself. However, this is the first documentary focused on Queen Letizia, the first of three chapters on the European consort queens. The next two will deal with Matilde of Belgium and Máxima de Holanda.

The presence of the camera, which sometimes seems to be really ignored by Letizia, allows us to capture, for example, the thoroughness with which he prepares a trip to Mozambique in his office. There are advisors, papers on the table and various issues to discuss before embarking on the flight to a country that has just suffered a humanitarian tragedy. There he will visit a Spanish field hospital, images that serve German journalists to show the most committed face of the queen consort.

The digitalization of the future, climate protection or equality between men and women are now part of the real agenda. "A new monarchy requires new themes," says the narrative. "Letizia not only moves only sponsorship, but is deeply involved in the issues that motivate her."

Later the queen can be seen taking her daughters to school. "You don't have an exam today, do you, Sofia?" - "What luck!" Exclaims King Felipe from the driver's post. "First he takes the girls to school, before going to the office," says the speech.

Her role as an ambassador for several humanitarian causes or her support for rare disease organizations and women's rights do not take away to show other less lucid moments. The relationship with Queen Emeritus Sofia in the aftermath of last summer's encounter with a photo with the infantas damaged her image. But the tape remembers that it is a mistake that people "of flesh and blood" can make.

The program also includes interviews with several personalities such as the writer Mario Vargas Llosa, who highlights the hard transition as a journalist to queen ("Letizia faced responsibilities for which she was not prepared, but that effort is paying off") or the director director of the Department of Public Health and Environment of the World Health Organization, María Neira.

Also speaking before the camera are the director of the Elcano Royal Institute, Charles Powell, the Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Juan Pablo de Laiglesia, or the TVE journalist, Sagrario Ruiz de Apodaca, who tells with grace how he saw the transition of his partner , who suddenly began to dress more elegant, when he took his appointments with the then prince of Asturias with deep secrecy.

Some data, such as the 130,000 euros of salary, plus representation expenses, which the Queen consort is pocketing, or the figure that shows that the Spaniards are again on the side of the Monarchy, do not escape the narration: 62 percent support the institution, in contrast to less than half the approval it had in 2014.
