• Insecurity. The PP demands to send the Police and the Civil Guard to Barcelona to tackle the "security crisis"

Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has charged Friday against the PP for requesting the dispatch of more police and civil guards to Barcelona and, after praising the collaboration of Mossos and National Police and the plans of the Urban Guard, he has predicted that " the results can be seen shortly".

Interviewed in the Cadena Ser, Marlaska has pointed out that the situation in Barcelona, as in other parts of Spain, has long been worrying those responsible for security and has criticized the popular ones: finding simple solutions to problems is the simplest, But politicians are here to stop them "from serious training" and with "future solutions", he said.

After remembering that during the governments of the PP Police and Civil Guard lost 12,000 troops, he has considered that the popular request is a sign of "ignorance".

In Barcelona, he explained, there are already national police officers acting as judicial police, who collaborate with the Mossos; It is these who exercise the powers of public security and the Urban Guard also has specific powers.

In this context he has praised the Councilor for Security of the city, the socialist Albert Batlle, former head of the Mossos d'Esquadra and "one of the people who knows most about security not only in Catalonia, but in Spain" , and has assured that "it has a more than correct planning and soon the results can be seen".

Marlaska has downplayed the statements of the Interior Minister, Miquel Buch, saying that the "top blanket" creates insecurity because it "distracts" citizens and facilitates theft, crimes that, the minister recalled, are always easier to commit in agglomerations.

"When I go through Gran Vía 32, if there is an important influx, my wallet goes from the back pocket to the front," he said, setting the example of the place where the Cadena Ser is located, in one of the busiest avenues in Madrid .

He has rejected hot reforms , has estimated that robberies with violence and intimidation are "perfectly regulated" in the Criminal Code with significant penalties and has ensured that the general rule in arresting someone for that crime is to order provisional imprisonment.
