There will be a new legal turn for Preem's planned refinery expansion in Lysekil. That message left the Land and Environmental Court on Monday.

With its environmental investment, Preem wants to be able, among other things, to convert sulfur-rich heavy oil into cleaner fuels, which would lead to a doubling of the Raffa's carbon dioxide emissions. But also create many new jobs.

The Nature Conservation Association was satisfied - but several Lysekils residents SVT News West talked to on Monday seemed to prioritize jobs ahead of the climate.

- As I see it, it is more important with job opportunities and what it creates for the region versus what we can do for the environment here, says Kevin Wickins.

Many young people lack jobs

- There are very many young people who are unemployed who have no opportunity to get a job, says Simon Hermansson.

- Sure, it will have an impact on the environment, but I don't think that in small Sweden we can save the environment globally, says Kevin Wickins.

For others, it is more important that the climate issue is more important.

- Of course, there are many unemployed. But you have to think about nature too and if there is emissions, then it is not good, says Solveig Elfving.
