In Toulouse, EELV and LFI start to create "good dialogues"

Invitation of the Rogue to a "friendly pot", handshake between Yannick Jadot and François Ruffin, common debates: Europe Ecology The Greens and insubordinate France have multiplied the friendly gestures at their summer schools, organized this year a few kilometers from each other, in Toulouse.

The deputy of the Somme, who had lunched in July with the national secretary of EELV David Cormand and was invited to participate in a debate on the site of the summer days by the Mayor EELV of Grande-Synthe (North) Damien Carême, was welcomed Friday afternoon at Mirail University by MEP Yannick Jadot.

"From the moment we all consider that ecology is a major issue, that we only have a few years, and that we believe that ecology and social justice should recompos the political landscape, it is important to talk to each other, of course, "Mr. Jadot commented in front of the cameras, after shaking Mr. Ruffin's hand.

"I am in favor of a grassroots ecological front," said the deputy of the Somme, elected in 2017 thanks to the support of the PCF, LFI, EELV and Ensemble, as he himself reminded.

"We are in a moment where if we want to restore hope in this country, it is obvious that we must find a way that allows us to come together, to unite, not to have extreme money or money. extreme right as the only hypothesis for the future, "explained Mr Ruffin a little later.

Mr. Jadot has not always been tender with the unscrupulous troublemaker: "Ruffin is a populist, in the name of which he is ready to tolerate intolerable things," he said in January on the sidelines of a trip to Grande -Synthe.

Asked about these remarks Friday, Mr. Jadot admitted not to "agree with everything François Ruffin does", which does not prevent "discussion".

Does he recognize himself in the proposal of a popular ecological front? "The question is not the expression (...) Yes we must discuss, we must work together, but I have always said, on the basis of a project," replied Mr. Jadot, who does not want to hear about a "device agreement".

Mr. Ruffin believes that as in the Popular Front, the union will come from the "base". "If people want reconciliations, it must be claimed from below," he told AFP.

Earlier in the afternoon, he had invited the national secretary of EELV David Cormand to participate in a debate with him on the site of the "Amfis" of insubordinate France, the conference center Pierre Baudis.

After this "first leg" and this "return match", must be held in the evening a "mini football tournament" with FI and EELV activists, at the Bazacle Stadium. A way for this football lover to spin the metaphor on the need to work "as a team".

Thursday evening, a delegation of France rebellious had been welcomed on the site of EELV by MM. Cormand and Jadot, including the party coordinator Adrien Quatennens, the MEP Manuel Bompard, and the councilor of Paris Danielle Simonnet.

The leader of La France Insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, himself gave his blessing to these gestures of openness, observing that the concomitance of the two events promised "good dialogues" to each other.

The municipal elections of March 2020 should be an opportunity to quickly give a political translation, even if there is no question for both parties to give national instructions.

"These are not the devices that will say what to do," says Cormand, who notes however that the local troops of insubordinate France are more open to agreements than in 2014. Example among others : the city of Toulouse, where EELV and LFI are associated with the initiative driven by the citizen archipelago.
