Europe's largest mosque opened in Chechen Shali
The largest mosque in Europe has opened in the Chechen city of Shali, RIA Novosti reports.
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, at the opening ceremony, said that the mosque was named after the prophet Muhammad.
The event was attended by guests from Muslim countries, Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Matovnikov, Minister of the North Caucasus Sergey Chebotarev.
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to the audience.
In 2017, it was reported that the Akhmat-Haji Kadyrov Regional Public Fund will restore a medieval mosque in Aleppo.
