"The Czech Foreign Ministry expresses its regret over the committed act of vandalism and declares that it respects the memory of Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of Czechoslovakia," RIA Novosti quoted Zuzan Shtihov, representative of the Czech Foreign Ministry.

On August 22, unknown people sprayed the monument with the inscription “No to the bloody marshal, we will not forget” and the date - “1968”.

The monument to Marshal Konev was erected in the Czech capital in 1980.

The monument was repeatedly targeted by vandals. So, in the spring of 2018, unknown persons poured pink paint on the Konev monument, and in the fall of 2017, vandals wrote several dates on the monument.

Earlier, Russia declared a protest to the Czech Republic because of the desecration of the Konev monument in Prague.
