Authorities rescued 24 migrants, including seven miners, on Friday night off Dunkirk (North) who were trying to cross the English Channel in a RIB to reach Britain, according to the Manche maritime prefecture and the North Sea.

The migrants, then about 4 km from the coast, called the fire brigade around 2:30, which warned the regional operational monitoring and rescue center (Cross) Gris-Nez, triggering research, according to a statement from the maritime prefecture .

Around 4.30 am, the migrants were "recovered unharmed while their boat was taking the water" and brought back on board a patrol officer of the coast guard of the customs in Calais (Pas-de-Calais), where they were delivered to firefighters and border police around 7:00.

Migrants regularly try to cross the strait, where the currents are strong and the heavy maritime traffic, starting from the French littoral.

Thursday, 30 migrants, including 10 children and a baby, were recovered by the authorities, after the reports of fishing boats off the Côte d'Opale in a particularly important maritime traffic zone.
