Five national female students studying engineering at Khalifa University of Science and Technology have developed an intelligent face recognition system, an application capable of identifying or verifying a person through a digital image or video frame. When the profiles are matched, the system recognizes the desired person.

Kholoud Al-Dhanhani, Hajar Al-Zaabi, Shamsa Al-Muhairi, Aisha Al-Habsi and Fatima Al-Antali told Emirates Today that the system recognizes people through the face and is quick and accurate. Absenteeism, signs that it is able to recognize people in different degrees of light.

Al-Dhanhani pointed out that innovation is currently being used to record attendance and absence. It can be used in employers in the process of recording attendance and leave instead of the fingerprint system, and can be used to search for the missing, and to identify the wanted security by storing their data and photos in advance on the application.

Al-Dhanhani added that some facial recognition algorithms define facial features by extracting features from his image, while another algorithm analyzes the relative position and size of facial organs.

She stressed that innovation takes 20 to 120 seconds to identify the faces of groups in front of him, according to the device used.
