The man is also convicted of gross drunk driving after driving drunk from a place outside Karlstad to Munkfors, where his stepson lived.
The man must have told his partner that he would shoot her son, then sat in the car with a loaded shotgun and drove off. The motive was, according to the judgment, that the man thought the stepson used his mother financially.
Police seized the man just 300 meters from the stepson's home.
The district court believes that the man is guilty of preparation for murder because the man has pronounced death threats against the stepson, and because the shotgun was loaded.
