Not far from his home in Brevik outside Åmotfors, the shetland pony Hope was found in the forest yesterday. Last week, the night until Thursday, Hope disappeared and since then the owners have been looking together with others involved and with the help of both drones and dogs.
Traced with dogYesterday, fresh horse litter was discovered about 2.5 km from the home and once again a dog owner came out to have his dog tracked.
- We have searched in that area since last Friday when we previously saw droppings and hoof tramps there but then we have not found anything.
The search has been hampered by the weather conditions. It has been both windy and heavy rain, says Agnes. In addition, there is very dense forest in the area.
- When we took the dog Bella to the place yesterday she did not want to leave the place and pick up any track but wanted to stay close. She probably felt he was not far away. So Bella's owner said, "I think he's right in the area." And then suddenly, Hope was standing there in the woods, with her blue halter, watching us, says Agnes.
According to her, Hope seems good, he is similar and has probably eaten well and found water to drink.
- It didn't look like he had any need at all. He probably just walked around in circles up there this week. He's probably had a vacation in the woods.
When Hope escaped, it was dense fog in the morning and he probably got out of the pasture by crawling under the fence. Then he had only been with the family for five days. Agnes and her partner had just bought the Shetland pony for their two children, one and five years old.
How did your daughters react when Hope returned?
- Our five-year-old Otilia was very happy and said that "Dad, what a good Hope is finally home".
What are you doing now to prevent Hope from escaping again?
- We have strong current since before but now we have set up another thread, says Agnes.
