The venture capitalist and underwater explorer Victor Vescovo is behind the expedition. He has previously dived, among other things, in the Challenger Depth in the Marianer's Tomb, the deepest point in the world, and is the man who has been deepest beneath the sea surface (thus breaking Titanic director James Cameron's previous record by a few meters).

- The first impression was that it was big, it's a big wreck, says Victor Vescovo.
