Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) has announced the approval of the lists of scholarships for 710 high school students to join the universities of Sharjah and the American University of Sharjah.

He also directed the authority to deliver electricity, water and gas to the new industrial zone in Kalba. The Authority began taking the necessary measures to deliver services to buildings from the low-pressure network in the region, pending the establishment of a new high-pressure station.

The Chairman of the Authority, Eng. Rashid Al-Leem, said that the list of scholarships was distributed to 550 scholarships at the University of Sharjah and 160 at the American University of Sharjah.

He stressed that distinguished education is the best investment, and one of the most important bases on which continuous development depends, pointing out that the Authority is working to provide scholarships, in order to support and support outstanding students, and provide the necessary capabilities to develop their skills, and provide the necessary disciplines for the labor market, and provide practical training opportunities. The various departments and projects of the Authority.

He added that learning and gaining experience and skills contribute effectively to supporting the comprehensive civilizational renaissance in the Emirate of Sharjah, and enhance its leadership role in the world, pointing out the Authority's keenness to provide its services at international levels through academic educational cooperation with a number of universities and research centers, such as the University. The American University of Sharjah, through the launch of a professorship in the field of energy, to benefit from scientific research and expertise in the development of its fields of work.

In addition, Al-Leem said that the Authority has received two requests for the delivery of services in the new industrial zone, in addition to 67 requests have been studied and approved plans to start construction, stressing the delivery of services to them from the network of low pressure itself. He explained that the delivery department in Kalba administration receives delivery requests for all those who have completed the necessary equipment for the delivery of electricity, such as schemes and percentage of completion and other requirements. He commended the directive of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to the Department of Planning and Survey, to allocate a piece of land for the Authority in the city of Kalba, to build a high-voltage station 33 to serve the new industrial zone, which will include more than 1500 buildings. He called on citizens and residents of Kalba to abide by the electrical loads specified for them, and not to exceed them and add loads without reference to the Authority, as this negatively affects the efficiency of the network.

He stressed that «the Authority launched a campaign two years ago to raise awareness of the dangers of overloading, and despite this, there are still abuses and random additions».
