Some 200 people took part in an undeclared demonstration between the G7 countertop camp in Urrugne and Hendaye near the Spanish border on Thursday, the first since the start of the anti-G7 rally. AFP reporter.

The small procession, with banners mainly in Basque and some "yellow vests" in its ranks, took the road to the Corniche, by the sea, to reach the beach of Hendaye.

Participants wore a large wooden frame meant to represent the hull of a boat and symbolize the "flowing world".

Police arrived on site to supervise the parade, taking place in front and tail of procession.

On Twitter, the Prefecture of Pyrénées-Atlantiques reported on this event which resulted in traffic slowdowns.

Undesirable in Biarritz, where will be held the summit of the seven world powers from Saturday, the participants in the counter-summit, which brings together Basque organizations, French and international, have elected home near the Spanish border and Irun (Spain).

In addition to workshops and conferences until Friday, they include a large demonstration Saturday between Hendaye and Irun and actions on public squares Sunday, closer to Biarritz.

The French authorities have mobilized more than 13,000 members of the police, supported by the army, and Madrid nearly 3,000 police and civil guards, to ensure the safety of the summit, and its surroundings.
