Berlin (dpa) - Federal Family Minister Franziska Giffey calls for free train rides for people in voluntary service. "I will talk to the Deutsche Bahn," said the SPD politician. It had recently been decided that Bundeswehr soldiers wearing uniforms would be allowed to use trains for free from 1 January. Ulrich Schneider, managing director of the Paritätischer Gesamtverband, had told the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" that if free-rides are mentioned, the federal government should better focus on the people in the voluntary services.
