China refused negotiations with the US and Russia on armaments
The Permanent Representative of China to the UN, Zhang Jun, at a UN Security Council meeting, said that Beijing does not currently intend to participate in trilateral arms control negotiations with Russia and the United States.
According to him, Beijing has stated its position on arms control negotiations many times.
“At present, China is not interested in the so-called trilateral arms control negotiations and will not take part in them,” he said.
The diplomat added that China calls for maintaining the existing arms control regime.
The representative of China also called on the United States to refrain from deploying new intermediate and shorter-range missiles in the Asia-Pacific region.
Previously acting Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said that the very existence of humanity is at stake in the further development of the dialogue with Washington on arms control.
