While the President of the Republic meets the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, Emmanuel Macron is optimistic and judges possible a solution within 30 days.

He comes to defend his vision of Brexit in Europe. After German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday, and before the G7 that begins Saturday in Biarritz, Boris Johnson meets Emmanuel Macron Thursday at the Elysee.

"A job must be able to be done"

The French president said Thursday that a solution could be found "within 30 days" on the issue of the Irish border ("backstop" clause) to result in an orderly exit from the United Kingdom of the EU.

"In the context of what has been negotiated, a job must be done", says Emmanuel Macron receiving Boris Johnson at the Elysee, saying "confident" about a solution "within 30 days", and judging also that "the future of the United Kingdom can only be in Europe".
