As of Monday, all of Västtrafik's period cards became more expensive in Gothenburg, due to the fact that the city of Gothenburg no longer accounts for part of the cost. This has frustrated many travelers, which in turn has caused the question of thievery to flare up again.

Maria Björner Brauer says that waking up is a big problem growing.

- There is a standard shift in cheating. There are social trends going in that direction, she says.

Were tenth thieves

One in ten travelers who travel collectively in Gothenburg do not pay for any ticket, according to Västtrafik's assessment.

- It's not okay for a small group to take the right to let others pay, because we are the taxpayers who have to pay, says Maria Björner Brauer.

She does not want to speculate that the number of thieves may increase as a result of the new prices, but believes that prices are not the only driving force behind thieves.

- There are those who think it is right to cheat, she says.

"Powerful investment"

West traffic makes a vigorous investment in more controls and inspectors.

- We will get more inspectors in several places and in this way it will be harder to avoid paying, says Maria Björner Brauer.

More inspectors are not the only measure that West Traffic should take. They also work on changes in the To Go app. Maria Björner Brauer says that some travelers wait to buy a ticket until they see a controller, which in the long run will no longer work.

- We can see how the phone is used and then we can also design features in the app that make it more difficult, she says.
