“At lunchtime today, part of the school platform was closed. The part that is temporarily closed is student documentation that contains personal information about students and teachers. The City of Stockholm takes a serious look at what has happened, ”writes the City of Stockholm in a press release.

According to IT security expert Anne-Marie Eklund-Löwinder, who works as security manager for the Internet Foundation, the vulnerability discovered is easy to exploit.

- No advanced knowledge is needed to exploit the vulnerability, it is enough to use a fairly simple script, she says.

Login required

In order to exploit the vulnerability, the user must be logged into the system. However, since the platform is used by all of Stockholm's school operations, many people could potentially exploit the error to get over sensitive information about children and young people.

- There are probably many computer literate students and parents who would be able to use the system, says Anne-Marie Eklund-Löwinder.
