Before the Christmas shopping last year, the recycled garment was launched as this year's Christmas present. This may be a reason why the second-hand market is spinning well right now. Another explanation may be the weather.

The Pentecostal Church's second hand, the Red Cross and Erikshjälpen's stores in Helsingborg - all increased their sales this summer compared to last year.

Tourists from Northern Europe

- It has been varied weather that is good for trade. In addition, we have been visited by many tourists from Germany and Denmark, says Gabriella Sundberg, store manager for the Pentecostal Church's second hand at Gåsebäck.

A few kilometers away is Erikshjälpen's store, which last year had sales of just over SEK 15 million. About one million more than 2017.

And in July this year, the store broke sales records.

- It is noticeable that more people have vacationed at home. People make trips and want to do something fun, then you go on second-hand rounds, says Totto Renstig, store manager.

"Now the right situation came up"

Now more players want to enter the second hand market. It is Myrorna who opens a new store on Kullagatan in September.

- We have been looking for a local in Helsingborg for several years. Now the right situation came up, says Lotta Kökeritz, communications manager.

So far this year, Myrorna has increased its sales by six percent compared to last year. One of the second-hand chain stores that performs best is located at Emporia in Malmö.

Welcome more

The fact that another store will enter the market is welcomed by the other players in the industry.

- We usually see that it is favorable when there are several large second hand stores in the same cities. Customers feel that this is where they should go to do their rounds, says Gabriella Sundberg at Pentecostal Church's second hand.
