A drone from the United States Army was knocked down on Tuesday at the town of Dhamar in Yemen. Two US government officials report this to Reuters on Wednesday.
The government employees, who want to remain anonymous, say that the incident took place on Tuesday evening.
It is not known what the drone (an unmanned aircraft) did in Yemen. A spokesperson for the Houthis said earlier that the anti-aircraft system had brought down the drone.
Two months ago a US drone was also brought down in the war-torn country.
Civil war has been raging for years
A bloody civil war has been raging in Yemen for years. An international coalition led by Saudi Arabia and local allies is fighting the Houthis.
The Houthi rebels have largely trampled the north-west of the country and have the power in, among others, the capital Sanaa. Dhamar is located southeast of Sanaa.
