The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports announced that the rewards of the youth handball team under the age of 19, which was crowned the title of the World Handball Youth Championship in Macedonia, from 112 thousand 500 pounds ($ 6780) to 150 thousand pounds (more than nine thousand dollars) per player .
This brings the total bonuses to two million and seven hundred thousand pounds for players and technical, administrative and medical equipment, in addition to the official donations received by the ministry from private sector companies for a total amount of eight hundred thousand pounds.
The ministry said in a statement published on its website on Wednesday that this comes in recognition of the great historical achievement achieved by the youth of Egypt by winning the World Youth Handball Championship in Macedonia, and an example for the Egyptian athletes in various games.
On Tuesday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received the players and members of the coaching staff and awarded them the first class sports medal.
It is noteworthy that the President of the Handball Federation, said in press statements carried by many sites and communication pages - that the reward of the coronation of that team will be 1500 pounds per player (ninety dollars).
The statement sparked a wave of widespread cynicism, forcing the Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhi to comment that the statement of the President of the Federation was wrongly understood, stressing that the players will be honored financially and morally appropriately.
